The\u2019Tropea Hoteliers Association<\/strong>, HBenchmark<\/strong> e Mastercard<\/strong> In Tropea, they have initiated a process to measure the economic impact of tourism on the destination, through the Destination-Geospending platform<\/strong> (on Mastercard indicators).<\/p>

The tool observes how and where visitors spend their money in the region \u2013 not just in hotels, but across the entire commercial ecosystem, from dining to shopping, leisure to transport \u2013 returning a photograph of the spending journey<\/em> of the tourist<\/strong>: how much it spends, in which sectors, and where it comes from.<\/strong><\/p>

Data analysis support is provided by HBenchmark, which monitors over 80 destinations in Italy and Europe and has been collaborating with Mastercard since 2024.<\/p>

The first data<\/strong>, relating to January\u2013June 2026 semester<\/strong>, indicate an increase in overall spending of +32% compared with 2025<\/strong>, with an average bill of \u20ac32.21.<\/p>

The origin of the trainees is international component<\/strong> (74%<\/strong> of spending), while among the sectors the Catering<\/strong> recorded the largest increase (+42% year-on-year), followed by supermarkets and specialist food retailers (+32%) and the hospitality sector (+23%).<\/p>

The start of the summer season confirms the trend: in the month of June<\/strong> the bill comes to +28%<\/strong> compared to June 2025<\/strong>).<\/p>
