Press Review - 2025

The economic value of open-air tourism in Trentino is growing, with a knock-on effect on the region.

The 2024 outdoor tourism figures for the Autonomous Province of Trento, presented on Wednesday, February 5th, during a conference organised by FAITA – Federcamping at the Salone dell’Accoglienza – Hospitality in Riva del Garda, provide a very positive snapshot of the sector's health.

Based on the findings of a couple of studies conducted by CISET – International Centre for Tourism Economic Studies and presented by Dr Valeria Minghetti during the conference:

  • nel 2024 le strutture ricettive open-air del Trentino hanno registrato oltre 3,2 milioni di presenze, con un incremento dell’1,6% rispetto al 2023 e di ben il 14,6% rispetto al 2019;
  • Still in 2024, open-air tourism generated approximately €200 million in total spending. For every euro spent on accommodation, the open-air tourist spent an additional €2.1 on goods and services, both within the accommodation facility and externally (restaurants, sports activities, entertainment, shopping, etc.).

Confirming the picture of a sector ‘in excellent shape’ are also the HBenchmark data presented by the President of FAITA-FederCamping Alberto Granzotto:

  • nel periodo 22 marzo – 31 ottobre 2024 il tasso medio di occupazione del campione rappresentativo di strutture open air trentine prese in esame è aumentato di 1,3 punti percentuali rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2023, passando dal 59,8% al 61,1%,;
  • Within the same date range, other indicators interesting from a profitability perspective also grew, such as the average revenue per housing unit, particularly for villas and bungalows (+€25, going from €106 to €131). .

Before providing you with the link to the article with further data and insights on the topic, we would like to extend a special thank you to Roberto Failoni, the Councillor for Tourism for the Province of Trento, for the complimentary remark with which he highlighted HBenchmark's contribution to the investigation of the dynamics of this very important economic sector in Trentino:

“Many years ago, we looked at bread and petrol to understand trends, whereas today we have HBenchmark.”
