Focus Mobile Home: the evolution of open-air tourism in the FAITA-HBenchmark analysis

In the latest issue of Camping Management, the official magazine of FAITA Federcamping, features an in-depth look dedicated to the central role of Caravan in the redefinition of the outdoor hospitality offering. The article outlines the dynamics of the sector using aggregated data collected through the platform OpenAir-Benchmark on the national FAITA sample relating to the 2026 season.

The key points emerging from the data analysis:

  • Strong advance booking: Almost 25% of bookings is made more than 180 days in advance, while more than 20% it falls within the 121 to 180-day bracket, confirming a strong propensity for planning.
  • Length of stay: The average length of stay reaches a peak of up to 9.7 nights in August.
  • Tariff performance: Always in August, the average daily rate (ADR) reaches 324 euros for 5-star accommodation.
  • Economic impact on turnover: In view of a proportion of units sold equal to approximately 29%, the mobile homes end up generating over 50% of total turnover, demonstrating their ability to intercept high-value-added demand.

The data confirms how the mobile home has evolved from a simple housing solution into a true strategic and identity-shaping driver for Open Air hospitality, capable of responding to the market's new demands for comfort, sustainability and flexibility.
