Pisa and the Coast: the challenge of destagionalization: HBenchmark data for September

The findings of the Hotel-Benchmark platform and the analyses of Confcommercio Pisa highlight a solid recovery in bookings starting from the second week of September, confirming the strategic importance of the shoulder months for the Pisa region and the coast.

Although the first week of the month showed a more contained trend, the constant presence of key international markets (especially German and Dutch ones) supports the prolongation of the season, placing the issue of tariff policies and de-seasonalization at the center of the debate.

The key points emerging from the data analysis

  • September resumption on the Coast: After a slow start to the month, the second half of September shows a significant increase in attendance, reversing the less favorable forecasts of early summer and confirming the potential for extending the beach season.
  • International presence and foreign flows: The importance of foreign customers (especially from Germany and the Netherlands) remains significant, as they continue to choose the destination even after the schools reopened.

Andrea Romanelli, president of Federalberghi-Confcommercio Pisa, calls for a careful analysis of average prices, highlighting how non-competitive rates have favored a partial redistribution of flows towards the non-hotel sector (apartments, residences, and B&Bs).

As emphasized by the General Director of Confcommercio Pisa, Federico Pieragnoli, the push on the shoulder months is now a fundamental lever for ensuring economic stability for businesses and distributing flows evenly throughout the year.
