Open-Air Tourism in the North-East: the season extends until November

In a recent in-depth article by Laura Ferretto on Camping Management, the analysis of the data processed by the system Open Air – Benchmark For FAITA Federcamping Nordest highlight a structural shift for the sector Open air in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia: the tourist calendar extends well beyond the summer months, with September and October holding an increasingly significant share.

Consolidated data and autumn booking figures confirm how favourable weather, service quality and demand flexibility are driving effective de-seasonalization.

The key points emerging from the data analysis

  • Seasonal performances in Veneto (71.7%): Between April and August, the average consolidated occupancy rate stood at 71.7% (74% for accommodation). The Upper Adriatic stands out for its average length of stay (11.3 nights), with a very strong international presence (over 60% of German visitors in Cavallino-Treporti, 51% on Lake Garda).
  • Autumn bookings steadily on the increase: By mid-October the Northern Adriatic has already recorded the 52,4% occupancy rate (74% German market). On Lake Garda, bookings received up to 1 November exceed the 50,4%.
  • Growth in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (+1.6%): From April to August, average employment grows at 58,7% (+1.6 points on 2025). For the first half of September, already secured employment reaches 58,8% (with the housing sector at 75%).
  • Business model evolution: The redistribution of flows generates a positive impact on related industries and employment continuity, prompting businesses to reschedule services and commercial strategies over an extended time horizon.

As highlighted by FAITA president Alberto Granzotto, the availability of reliable and predictive data via HBenchmark proves to be strategic in supporting businesses and destinations in managing the transition towards year-round, sustainable tourism.
