MotoGP: the race weekend boosts hotel occupancy on the Romagna Riviera

In a recent article on The Rest of the Little Donkey, the survey data on accommodation facilities highlights the strong boost generated by the Misano MotoGP Grand Prix on the hotel sector of the Romagna Riviera.

The sporting event is confirmed as a strategic driver for the mid-season, guaranteeing a significant increase in rooms sold and high occupancy rates across all coastal resorts.

The key points emerging from the data analysis

  • Employment on the rise (+7%): The monitored accommodation facilities record an average occupancy already achieved equal to 74%, marking an increase of about 7 percentage points compared to the same period last year observed on the same date.
  • Price stability and average revenue: The high concentration of demand for the race weekend kept average rates at levels typical of the peak summer months, confirming fans' strong propensity to book.
  • Footfall and public: The GP aims to beat the record figure of 174,000 spectators from the previous edition (with estimates of up to 180,000 attendees over the weekend), guaranteeing a direct impact on accommodation occupancy from Misano all the way to Rimini.

As pointed out by Antonio Carasso, president of Promozione Alberghiera, the constant monitoring of bookings and occupancy rates provided by HBenchmark makes it possible to precisely quantify the knock-on effect of major sporting events on the destination.
