Riviera Romagnola: record May and growing summer forecasts

The 2026 tourist season on the Romagna Riviera is off to an excellent start, with booking volumes and occupancy rates significantly higher than last year.

The sector benefits from a strategic mix of sporting events, conferences, and favourable weather conditions, which are anticipating the typical flows of the peak season.

Data Analysis (HBenchmark Observatory)

Performance monitoring highlights a significant positioning for the main seaside resorts:

  • Booking Trends: For the month of May, Rimini is registering an increase in bookings of 22% compared to 2025.
  • First May Bridge Occupation: Rimini's accommodation facilities (around 500 hotels open) have surpassed 75% of occupation, while in Riccione the average occupancy is over’80%.
  • International Segment Forecasts for June indicate further consolidation of the foreign component, estimated 2 percentage points higher last year’s record (which had exceeded 40%).

Demand driver The boost to flows is fuelled by a dense calendar of events (international basketball and football tournaments, medical and religious congresses, major concerts) which guarantee stability for incoming tourism. There is also a trend towards the rediscovery of nearby destinations, motivated by perceived stability compared to the uncertainties of long-haul flights.
