Hospitality 2025 Exhibition – Riva del Garda

The economic value of open-air tourism in Trentino is growing, with a knock-on effect on the region.

 The 2024 outdoor tourism figures for the Autonomous Province of Trento, presented on Wednesday, February 5th, during a conference organised by FAITA – Federcamping at the Salone dell’Accoglienza – Hospitality in Riva del Garda, provide a very positive snapshot of the sector's health.

Based on a couple of studies conducted by CISET – International Centre for Tourism Economy Studies and presented by Dr. Valeria Minghetti during the conference

  • In 2024, open-air accommodation facilities in Trentino recorded over 3.2 million attendances, representing an increase of 1.61% compared with 2023 and a significant rise of 14.61% compared with 2019;
  • still in 2024, outdoor tourism generated approximately £200 million total spend and for every euro spent on accommodation, the open-air tourist spent €2.1 on the purchase of goods and services both inside and outside the facility (restaurants, sports activities, entertainment, shopping, etc.).

Confirming the picture of a sector ‘in excellent shape’ are also the HBenchmark data presented by Chairman of FAITA – FederCamping Alberto Granzotto:

  • in the period 22 March – 31 October 2024 the average employment rate of the representative sample of Trentino open-air structures examined is increased by 1.3 percentage points compared with the same period in 2023, rising from 59.8% to 61.1%;
  • also within the same date range are grown up also other indicators of interest from a profitability perspective, such as the average revenue per dwelling, particularly for detached houses and bungalows (+25 euros, going from 106 to 131 euros). .

To conclude, we would like to quote a complimentary remark from Roberto Failoni, the Councillor for Tourism for the Province of Trento, who praised HBenchmark’s contribution:

“Years ago, we used to observe traditional indicators like bread or petrol to interpret trends; today, we can rely on tools like HBenchmark.”
